Editing a contemporary romance short story (work sample)

The purpose of the project was to developmentally edit a contemporary romance short story and make suggestions on the big-picture storytelling issues of the manuscript. I provided in-margin comments (suggestions) about the story's developmental issues:

• setting,
• main characters,
• balance between dialogue, narrative and action.

​I stated the issues, explained the reasons and provided solutions on how to improve the short story. As a result, after applying my suggestions to the manuscript, the author can confidently prepare their story for the next steps of the publishing process.
Deliverables:

• Manuscript document with in-margin comments (suggestions) that explain the storytelling issues in each scene.
•  Editorial report that analyses setting, main characters and balance between dialogue, narrative and action throughout the short story.

Editing a YA contemporary romance novel (work sample)
