Manuscript Critique

The manuscript critique is a less intensive version of the Developmental Editing service. 
It addresses the following issues:​
  • theme
  • story structure
  • characters (goals, motivations, conflict, character development)
  • point of view
  • pacing
  • setting/timeline
  • genre conventions/expectations
  • scene vs narrative summary (show vs tell)
  • dialogue
​It does not address line editing or copyediting issues such as grammar, spelling or punctuation.

The service includes:
  • an editorial report full of editorial feedback in a Microsoft Word document
  • 30 minutes of follow-up support over email or Google Meet*
  
​*Don’t worry if you're anxious about face-to-face communication. ​If you prefer, I will turn off the video function, and we'll talk as if we are having a telephone conversation.
 
Disclaimer: You will only receive an editorial report that addresses the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript. No actual changes will be made to the manuscript.
